What's the Plan?

In this preposterous 1873 erotic fantasy by William-Adolphe Bouguereau, four lively nymphs try to convince a satyr to join them in their sylvan frolics. One has him literally by the horns (well, at least one horn). The artist stirs the visual pot with a whirl of arms and legs, spokes of a wheel around a hub of the brightest white in the center of the composition.

This fellow seems more reluctant than satyrs were reputed to be.

Upon reflection - imagine the (appropriate) hue and cry if the genders in this painting were reversed.
