FLY FOR YOUR LIFE
A
bold, braggy fish hawk and a cautious, quiet heron become such good friends they’re calling themselves “sky sisters” by the end of the most dangerous journey of their lives. Migrating the Atlantic Flyway from Maine to the Bahamas, they encounter a surprise hurricane, savage predators, deadly skyscrapers, and an unexpected blizzard. Happily, they also enjoy glorious nights flying under the great bird constellations—Cygnus the Swan, Aquila the Eagle, and others. Most important, each bird learns to step up for her friend. They risk their lives for each other.

THE CAPTAIN OF BATTERY PARK
"Readers will feel as if they've eaten a whole box of chocolates."
School Library Journal

High above New York City in a loft in Greenwich Village, a seafaring veterinarian lives. Dr. Kidd has a black beard, a gold earring, and an infamous ancestor. He also has a love of animals--particularly birds--that sets him to scheming some private piracy of his own. Into his scheme stumble Melanie, who is twelve and crazy about birds; Kik, an injured Arctic tern; Prince Andre, an outspoken parrot; Dr. Bones and his son Jimmy; and a closet full of penguins. (Occasionally available in hardbound).

THE BUTTERFLY KILLERS
Picture
When two rogue biologists in Jamaica demand a $20M ransom from the U.N. or they’ll kill the last specimens of the huge, critically endangered Homerus butterfly, a U.S. wildlife team of three teens races to the island to stop them.
(While my story is fiction, this gorgeous butterfly, symbol of Jamaica, is very real and truly faces extinction today.)
Featured are Nikki Wing of the San Diego Zoo, Jacob Parley of the Bronx Zoo, and Taylor Strange of Mustang Rescue in Aspen. Hunting the biologists, the two girls and the boy confront dank rainforests, dangerous sinkholes, armed
ganga growers, suspicious farmers, hired thugs, a vicious dog, arsonists, hand-to-hand fighting, and a storm at sea.

Positives of their visit include new friends, a beach party, a benefit concert, a hit butterfly song, and free coffee from grateful growers (!).
